3 of the Hottest New Hotel Openings of 2022
Released on 05/31/2022
[Narrator] Every year, Conde Nast Traveler releases
its Annual Hot List [mellow music]
which celebrates the best hotel openings
and more from around the world.
Here, an outdoor lover's
dream ranch style property in New Mexico,
a sleek addition to downtown Boston,
and a reborn resort from Florida's glamor-era,
are three of the standout properties
on this year's Hot List.
Found just a few miles from downtown Santa Fe,
Bishop's Lodge from Auberge Resorts Collection
transports you to the New Mexico of a bygone era.
It's inside the home once owned by the Pulitzer family
with its adobe structures and details,
like traditional farolitos, or paper lanterns,
and loads of raw timbers and exposed stone
in the rooms and common spaces.
Though what may make this retreat
stand out from the rest of the hotels in the area
is its focus on the outdoors.
Bishop's Lodge sits at the foothills
of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains,
which border Santa Fe's 1.5 million acre national forest.
And no matter where you base yourself,
be it the terrace of the Sunset Suite,
which has its own hot tub,
or the patio at signature SkyFire restaurant,
you can get lost in the views towards the mountains.
And the friendly concierge can easily set you up
to explore beyond the hotel walls,
arranging hikes through Bandelier National Monument
to spot petroglyphs, to fly fishing,
to excursions into town to shop for the art
and jewelry that this region is known for.
If you are after something a little more relaxed
Bishop's Lodge has you covered with a sweet pool
and a top of the line spa that offers holistic treatments
using ancient practices in a whitewashed space.
Back at SkyFire,
from star of Southwest cuisine, Dean Fearing,
dishes are locally inspired,
like chicken enchiladas with smoked red chilies
and yellow corn pancakes.
The vibe is sexy and sophisticated at the Newbury.
Named for the glitzy Boston street the hotel sits upon,
surrounded by boutiques like Tiffany's,
and other high-end retail
conveniently right outside its doors.
Set in the former Ritz-Carlton,
the Newbury is a hotel worthy of its address.
A two-year renovation after new ownership
turned the building into its current iteration,
with grand staircases, loads of marble,
and elaborate chandeliers.
You're not just coming here for the history,
the food programming is some of the best in Boston.
Kick off any stay with a cocktail and small bite
off the all-day menu at Street Bar,
which is the perfect little escape with its darkened nooks
and curated art on the walls.
Rooms like the king garden category
are bright, sharp, and airy
and feel at home on a place like Newbury street.
The Mansion Suite has massive bathrooms
and, at 1500 square feet,
is easily larger than some central Boston one-bedrooms.
The crown jewel, however, is the top floor Contessa,
which serves hand rolled pastas and delicate carpaccio
with tables that peep onto the Boston Public Garden,
right across the road.
And then, down in Florida is the Boca Raton.
Painted in its signature pink,
with acres of pools, and various room types,
it's a playground-like resort
that instantly transports you to vacation mode.
This place is not just a resort
with over 1000 rooms spread across five distinct hotels,
it's also a private members club,
and has a 50,000 square foot spa,
and a terrific beach front.
This former 1926 property was revamped
to the tune of $200 million and reopened in 2021
in an effort to usher in a new golden era of travel,
meaning guests are expected to dress for dinner
and days may be spent shuffling between
the Spanish colonial style lobbies
and common spaces with champagne or martini in hand.
There are more than 10 places to eat on the spacious grounds
and the food and beverage comes
courtesy of New York City's Major Food Group.
Hit up the scene-y Palm Court for an exceptional cocktail
before sitting down to steak and another martini
at the mid-century style chop house, Flamingo Grill.
The resort has also partnered with top retail
so guests can shop at boutiques like Michelle Farmer
should they want to pick up something new and fabulous
to wear later that night.
A top hotel draws in the best of food, design,
and comfort to become a destination all their own.
